Frances Morabito, 97, Tarrytown Seniors Member

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Frances Arduino Morabito of Tarrytown, died April 22 after a brief illness. She was 97.

She was born Nov. 29, 1914 in Catona, Reggio Calabria, Italy. A resident of Tarrytown since the age of 13, Morabito enjoyed family and the many friends she met through her years living in the community. She was a seamstress for many years at Merl's Dress Shop and enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and family. 

Morabito was a member of St. Ann Sodality in her parish of Immaculate Conception Church. She was also a member of Transfiguration Women's Club, the Tarrytown Leisure Club and a charter member of the Tarrytown Seniors. 

She is survived by a daughter, Anna (Salvatore) Zambelletti; a son, Domenic “Nick” Morabito; a brother, Santo Arduino, of California; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Morabito; a son, Joseph, who died at 18 months; a sister, Gaetana Ranieri and two brothers, John and Antonino "Nino" Arduino. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, with burial following in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 141 Franklin St. Tarrytown, NY 10591, and St. John’s Riverside Hospital, 128 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522.
