Abraham, Former Tarrytown Engineer, Dies at 100

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Leonard Abraham, of Tarrytown, died in his home on Dec. 18. He was 100.

Abraham was an engineering graduate of New York University and had a successful career working for General Motors in Tarrytown, Poloron Products in New Rochelle and Polychrome in Yonkers. 

As a lifelong resident of Tarrytown, he took an active role in his community. Abraham was a devoted member of Temple Beth Abraham where he served as president.

In June 2011, Abraham was honored with a centennial party by Jewish Community Center on the Hudson.  He enjoyed trailing, reading, photography and automobiles. Leonard was also the ultimate "do-it-yourselfer."

Surviving are his sons Joel (Barbara) Abraham of Woodcliff Lake, N.J. and Gershen (Sally) Abraham of Highland Park, Ill., five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife off 66 years, the former Sylvia Projansky. 

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Temple Beth Abraham in Tarrytown.
