TARRYTOWN-SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. - Made legendary by novelist Washington Irving's "Headless Horseman," now revived in pop culture by the FOX network television series, "Sleepy Hollow," Westchester's cradle of Halloween is preparing for the coming holiday.

Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are decked out in Halloween decorations from Main Street to Beekman Ave. as the villages begin the celebration on Saturday, Oct. 19 with the Sleepy Hollow 10K run at 9:30 a.m. and the Ragamuffin Parade at Patriot Park at 2 p.m.

And for local football fans, the Sleepy Hollow High School Horsemen hope to spook the Ossining High School Pride in a border battle Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m.,  just before the parade.

Scarecrows are hanging around the village, from fences, utility poles and in front of shops and restaurants as the busy villages await the Tarrytown Halloween Parade set for Saturday, Oct. 26.
