Rivertowns Village Green, Inc., a Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow-based non-profit run by residents of the two rivertowns, has been granted a contract by the Tarrytown Board of Trustees for the 2015 market season. "RVG members are thrilled that the Tarrytown village board has supported our efforts to localize the operations of the farmers market and we are passionate about providing a dynamic market for our community," said RVG Co-President Tammy Abraham, a Tarrytown resident. "We’re excited to create a lively weekly destination with great music, family activities, ready-to-eat food and more." RVG will bring the two villages a vibrant market with an abundant selection of high-quality, locally grown and produced foods, that is responsive to the diverse needs and tastes of the community.

The market will also serve as a village green meeting place, where community organizations and local businesses can promote their activities, and where residents can meet to share in the two villages' rich community life. "During the coming months, RVG plans to host community meetings, where we hope to gather input on the kind of market villagers want here and to encourage volunteers to join our efforts," said RVG Co-president Suzanne Sorrentino of Sleepy Hollow. Dates and locations will be announced shortly. RVG is a New York State not-for-profit corporation formed in 2013, whose mission is to improve access to quality locally produced food; connect people and farmers; enhance public understanding of our food system; stimulate community conversation about sustainability, food, health and food justice; and serve as a village green for diverse community interests, activities and entertainment.
