Tarrytown Parents Invited To Forum On Public Education Changes

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The New York Suburban Consortium for Public Education will host a forum on the state of public education in New York for concerned Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow parents on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ardsley Middle School.

A panel of experts at the forum will include: Carol Burris, Principal, Southside High School and 2013 New York State Principal of the Year; Leonie Haimson, Executive Director, Class Size Matters; Kenneth Mitchell- Superintendent, South Orangetown Central School District and President, Lower Hudson Valley Council of School Superintendents and Bianca Tanis, Special Education Teacher and Co-Founder, NYS Allies for Public Education.

Topics that will be discussed include the cost of 'reforms'; student data sharing; The Common Core; high-stakes testing; students with disabilities; and actions parents can take.
