Zheng, an Ossining resident, has created a softly lit space with a sushi bar at the rear and an inviting beverage bar at the front that bookend a large dining area. Outdoors on Broadway, the eatery extends out to the active shopping district, but is enclosed by attractive signed barriers.
"We have been opened only a couple of weeks but we're doing pretty well for the summer already," Zheng said. "I chose Tarrytown for my business because the area is just really nice and so welcoming. It is right by the water."
Sushi Thai offers dozens of dishes for lunch and dinner opening its doors at 55 North Broadway from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The menu features sushi, of course, and a variety of fish and seafood dishes, chicken, beef, noodle and rie dishes as well as hot and cold appetizers, soups, salads. Entres include Seafood Cassarole, Crispy Chicken & Shrimp with Honey Walnut, Mango Grilled Shrimp an Asian Spiced Glazed Duck.
"The most popular dishes are appetizers homemade pork dumpling, grilled boneless ribs; from the sushi bar, omakase -- the sushi chef's daily inspiration and from the kitchen, roasted Chilean sea bass, wok basil beef or shrimp with scallops," Zheng said.
And Zheng said he found his new business's neighborhood a perfect fit.
"Walking around the neighborhood, I just felt like this area really lacked a good Asian fusion restaurant, so I wanted to bring this experience to everyone in Tarrytown and the surrounding areas," he said.
Sushi Thai also offers free delivery with an oder of $15 or more.
