From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Rey Insurance will have a mobile shredding truck on site to help folks get rid of old documents and protect themselves from identity theft.

"Identity theft has become an epidemic. We wanted to provide a venue for people to bring confidential documents to be destroyed to help protect an invasion of privacy,” said Linda Rey, principal of Rey Insurance. “And because we are animal lovers, we wanted to be able to include a donation to the Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle to help protect our furry friends who need loving homes.”

Sponsored by Travelers Insurance, the event is taking place at the Rey Insurance Agency office at 219 N. Broadway in Sleepy Hollow.

Attendees can shred up to three boxes of documents for free, and for every box shred, Rey Insurance will donate $5 to the Humane Society of Westchester to help protect all of the furry friends in need of adoption and care.

“As a fellow family business as well as fellow Rotarians, Legal Shred of the Hudson Valley is thrilled to partner with Rey Insurance to help our local community securely dispose of their confidential paperwork. Identity theft is expensive for our economy as a whole as well as individually traumatic,” said Judith H. Papo, owner/president of Legal Shred of the Hudson Valley.
