Zach’s Bay At Jones Beach Closed To Swimmers Due To High Bacteria Counts, Officials Say Zach's Bay at Jones Beach State Park is closed to swimmers due to high bacteria counts, according to park officials. The measure was announced on Wednesday, July 23. "This prohibition is a precautionary step to assure the protection of the health and safety of our swimmers," said George Gorman, regional director for the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
