Three-Alarm Fire Breaks Out At Long Island Business About 150 firefighters from 14 departments responded to a three-alarm fire that broke out a Long Island business. It happened on Friday, May 15 at 5:30 pm in Farmingdale at Tronic Planting Company Inc. located on Potter Street.  Eight employees were inside the building when the fire started and evacuated without injuries, according to Nassau County Police. Long Island 21-Year-Old Killed When Car Crashes Into Utility Pole, Police Say A 21-year-old Long Island man was killed when his car crashed into a utility pole overnight. It happened on Friday, March 27 at around 5:18 a.m. in North Massapequa. The victim, Anthony Cardillo, 21, of Massapequa, was traveling south on North Broadway in a Town of Oyster Bay Public Safety Vehicle when he struck the utility pole at the intersection of North Pine Street, Nassau County Police said.  As a result of the collision, he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Oyster Bay Cove resident Elia “Aly” Lizza, 72, pleaded guilty to bribing an Oyster Bay commissioner to help facilitate the construction of the Cantiague Commons senior housing development. In Nassau County Court, Lizza pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree bribery, a felony. The crash took place around 9:15 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Hicksville, said the Nassau County Police. According to police, a 25-year-old man was driving a 2008 Lincoln southbound on Bethpage Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the home on Woodbury Road. Man Found Floating In Water Near Long Island Park Pronounced Dead A man found floating in the water near a park on Long Island has been pronounced dead. The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 in Massapequa, Nassau County Police said. According to detectives, a Town of Oyster Bay Constable located the man floating in the water approximately one-half mile south of John Burns Park, according to police. The man was pronounced deceased a short time later by a police medic. The identity of the man is currently unknown, said police, who added that criminality is not suspected.  The incident is still under investigation. …
