A thresher shark weighing more than 500 pounds was caught by a trio of fishermen from the Staten Island Fishing Club following a three-hour battle off the coast of Sandy Hook, N.J. on Sunday, Aug. 18. Joseph Egitto, 27, of Arden Heights; Pat Salvato, 42, of Tottenville; and Frank Pomponio, 25, of Great Kills, reeled in the 510-pound shark, which measured at a whopping 94 inches in length.
