Long Island Man Attacks, Injures Officers Checking On His Welfare, Police Say A Long Island man has been charged with allegedly assaulting police after his father requested a welfare check when he failed to show up in court. The incident took place in Baldwin around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26. Four Suspects At Large After Robbery At Long Island Hotel Four suspects are at all large after a violent robbery at a Long Island hotel. It happened on Monday, July 6 at 1:30 a.m. at the Ramada Hotel located at 1000 Sunrise Highway in Baldwin. The four entered a 27-year-old male victim’s room, punched him and held him down while they took his property, Nassau County Police said.  They fled the scene in an unknown direction in a white sedan. Long Island Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle While Crossing Busy Intersection A 55-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while he was attempting to cross a busy intersection, Nassau County Police said. That incident occurred on Friday, June 21 at about 9:50 p.m. in Baldwin. According to detectives, while attempting to cross Grand Avenue at Sunrise Highway, the man was hit by a 2015 Mazda that was traveling northbound.  As a result of the collision, the man suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead by a staff physician, according to police.
