Long Island Teen Killed, Sister Injured In Crash During Family Vacation A Long Island teen was killed in a car crash while on a family vacation in Iceland. Zachary Zabatta, was killed Saturday, Oct. 12, in the crash that also critically injured his younger sister, Sophia and his mother and father, according to a GoFundMe page and officials at his school, St. Mary's High School in Manhasset. According to the GoFundMe page, the entire family is currently hospitalized and it's unclear when they will be able to return home. Christopher Sharkey, From Mineola, Army Veteran, Dies At 53 A Colorado man who grew up in a large family in Mineola and served in the U.S. Army has died. Christopher Anthony Sharkey died of natural causes in Denver at the age of 53.  He was the son of Bernadette (McDermott) Sharkey and the late Laurence J. Sharkey.  Sharkey was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Mineola. He graduated from St. Mary's High School, served in the army, then moved to Denver.
