Long Island Doctor Sentenced For Overprescribing Opioids, Leading To 5 Deaths
A Long Island doctor – who once ran his office out of an old Radio Shack and his car – may now spend over a decade behind bars for prescribing his patients thousands of opioid pills at a time, leading to five overdose deaths.
George Blatti, age 78, of Nassau County, received his sentence of five to 15 years in prison for the deaths on Monday, Jan. 22, according to the Nassau County District Attorney.

A new Japanese restaurant on Long Island appears to be a hit with diners in the months since opening.
Ikedo Ramen, located in Carle Place at 19 Old Country Road, held its grand opening in late February 2023.
It marked the second Long Island location for the eatery, which touts its authentic Japanese dishes, according to its website.

Long Island Man Accused Of Threatening Police, Pretending To Be Abused Child, Authorities Say
A man accused of threatening several members of law enforcement and the Jewish community on Long Island pretended to be an abused 11-year-old as part of another relentless harassment campaign against police in Fort Lee, New Jersey, authorities said.
Bradley Goldberg, age 47, of Cedarhurst, used a voice modifier and untraceable “spoof” numbers as part of the assault, a police complaint charges.
Goldberg made several false reports of child abuse, neglect, and attempted murder of the youngster to Fort Lee police over a three-week period in March, the complaint obtained by Daily Voice says.

A Long Island boy has gone missing and authorities are asking the public's help in locating him.
Ethan Librandi, age 15, was last seen leaving his Port Washington residence around 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, Nassau County Police said. His disappearance was reported to police at 6:05 p.m. Friday, March 12.
He is described as being 6-foot, 150 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. He was wearing black pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket, and a black backpack.
He may be in New York City, Yonkers, or New Jersey.

A Long Island boy has gone missing and authorities are asking the public's help in locating him.
Michael Morrissey, age 15, was last seen leaving his Port Washington residence around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, Nassau County Police said. His disappearance was reported to police at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3.
He is described as being 6-foot-2, 125 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, black sneakers, navy blue jacket, and black backpack. His destination is unknown.

Man Nabbed For Stealing $3K In Drugs From Four Long Island Target Stores, Police Say
Police report the arrest of a Long Island man for numerous incidents of larceny.
Dean Leipsner, age 57, was located on Sunday, Jan. 24, at his last known address in Elmont and placed under arrest for thefts of over the counter medication that totaled in excess of $3,500, said the Nassau County police.
According to detectives, Leipsner was identified as the person responsible for numerous larcenies that occurred between Monday, Oct. 19, and Tuesday, Jan. 12, in Target stores located in Westbury, Valley Stream, Levittown, and Port Washington.
