The Riverhead Town Police Department said Dam Road is set to be closed from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, through 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6. The road closure is being implemented in order to install a fish passage connecting Peconic Lake with the Peconic River, police said. Police said additional closures may be necessary in the future.

Man Found In Peconic River In Riverhead May Be Drowning Victim An unidentified man found dead Saturday, June 15, in the Peconic River in Riverhead, may have drowned, Suffolk County police said. Riverhead police, along with Suffolk County detectives, were called to Grangabel Park to investigate a possible drowning about 4:20 p.m. Once on the scene, officers found the body of an unidentified man in the Peconic River, Suffolk police said. As of Monday, June 17, police had not identified the man. Police said the incident was not criminal in nature, and the man may have drowned. The investigation is ongoing.
