An alert was issued by the Nassau County Police Department as they attempt to locate the hit-and-run driver who hospitalized the bicyclist. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at the former Radio Shack store located at Central Boulevard and Sunrise Highway in Merrick, said the Merrick Fire Department. According to the department, a pickup truck struck the front of the former Radio Shack store, with the passenger suffering minor injuries. The driver was not injured and there was no entrapment.

Long Island Home Heavily Damaged By Blaze, Firefighter Injured A Long Island home was heavily damaged by a fire that also injured a firefighter. The fire took place around 12:30 p.m., Sunday, March 15, on Frisch Place in North Bellmore, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, officers responded to call for a fire at a residence on Frisch Place. Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle On Long Island A 46-year-old man crossing a Long Island roadway suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle. The incident took place around 8:20 p.m., Thursday, March 12 in Merrick, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, the man was crossing Merrick Road when he was struck by a 2007 Mercury Milan that was traveling eastbound on Merrick Road near the intersection of Central Parkway.  The victim was transported by the Merrick Fire Department to an area hospital with serious injuries.  The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
