Northwell Health Performs Long Island’s First Liver Transplant A surgical team with the Sandra Atlas Bass Center for Liver Diseases at North Shore University Hospital has performed Long Island’s first liver transplant, Northwell Health announced. Carlos Rosales, 42, of Brentwood, underwent a complex 11-hour transplant surgery on Wednesday, Dec. 4, after spending three months on a waiting list for a liver, which he received from a 19-year-old deceased donor, hospital officials said.
