An 18-year-old man was arrested months after he allegedly stole a mailed check from Long Island and deposited it for himself.
Nassau County Police announced it had arrested Andrew Herrera, age 18, for his alleged role in stealing an Atlantic Beach check nearly a year before, in March 2023.
The victim, a 69-year-old man, first mailed the $8,000 check from the Atlantic Beach Post Office, at 1848 Park Street.

A Long Island business owner is facing multiple charges after allegedly siphoning hundreds of thousands of dollars from customers and another company for personal expenses.
Mark Ripolone, age 35, of Montauk, was arraigned in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, May 3, on charges of grand larceny and identity theft, according to the district attorney’s office.

A federal court unsealed a 59-count indictment, which charges eight people for various offenses related to their roles in a subset of the Crips street gang, officials have announced.
According to the Eastern District of New York’s US Attorney’s Office, those charged were either members or associates of the Insane Crips Gang, or “ICG.”

Two members of an organized crime ring are behind bars in connection with numerous home break-ins across the country, including in Westchester County and on Long Island, authorities said.
