2 Killed In Separate Crashes In North Lindenhurst, Huntington
Two people were killed in separate Long Island crashes on Saturday, Aug. 5.
The first happened at around 2:45 p.m. in North Lindenhurst.
A 56-year-old West Babylon man was driving a 2008 Ford E250 van northbound on Straight Path, at the intersection of Wellwood Avenue, when his vehicle struck an electric scooter, Suffolk County Police said.
Shawn Gavigan, age 67, of Lindenhurst, who was riding the scooter, crossing Wellwood Avenue eastbound from Heathcote Road, police said.

Traffic Stop Turned Jail Time: Lindenhurst Man Sentenced For Cocaine, Heroin Possession
What began as a normal traffic stop has now landed a Long Island man behind bars for a decade.
Lindenhurst resident David Marmol, aged 41, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday, July 11 for his possession of a number of illicit substances, as well as a metal knuckle knife, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney.
On February 20, 2021, Marmol was pulled over in what was originally a routine traffic stop in the vicinity of South Fifth Street and Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst.

Farmingville Man Charged With DWI/Drugs After Fatal Centereach Crash, Police Say
A Long Island man has been charged with driving while high on drugs after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash that killed a 21-year-old.
The incident took place in Centereach around 5 p.m., March 19 on Middle Country Road, near Wood Road.
Christopher Guzman, age 39, of Farmingville, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on Middle Country Road, his truck struck the side of an eastbound 2011 Toyota Camry, driven by a 66-year-old Coram woman, said the Suffolk County Police.

Greenport Man ID'd As One Of Victims In Quadruple-Fatal East Marion Head-On Crash
The identities have been released of the four people who were killed in a head-on crash on Long Island's North Fork.
It happened at 11:33 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 on Route 25 in the hamlet of East Marion in the town of Southold.
According to the Southold Town Police Department, the victims are:

Three men were arrested and their vehicles were seized after police say they participated in an illegal car meet-up on Long Island.
Following an investigation, it was determined an illegal car meet-up was occurring in Yaphank at 53 Zorn Blvd. at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, Suffolk County Police said.

John “Lenny” Kenny, age 85, of Levittown, has last been seen around 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, Nassau County Police said.
At midday Sunday, Dec. 11, police announced he has been located.
