Tributes are pouring in for a beloved speedboat racer and aspiring firefighter from Long Island who died in a boating accident.
James Jaronczyk, age 28, of Massapequa, went missing Sunday afternoon, May 7, while boating in the Great South Bay, according to Suffolk County Police.
Investigators said he was alone when his 22-foot Progression speedboat hit a wave, knocking him into the water.

Fire Destroys Garage, Vehicles, Damages Long Island Home, Officials Say
A Long Island woman and her son were saved from a house fire after neighbors woke them up by ringing their doorbell.
The fire took place in Franklin Square around 11 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, on Howard Avenue.
Arriving Franklin Square firefighters were met with a large garage fire with multiple vehicles burning, hazardous materials, and a collapse of the garage, the Franklin Square Fire Department said.
Firefighters had the main body of fire quickly knocked down. Extension into the residence was kept to a minimum, the department added.

Massive Suffolk County House Fire Displaces Seven
A two-story Long Island home was devasted by a massive fire that ripped through the home quickly.
The fire started around 10 .m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the home in Coram in the basement of the home and quickly moved to the second floor, and the attic, officials said.
The fire then quickly spread to the first floor, when the second floor collapsed, causing firefighters to leave exit the residence, according to Stringer News.
