The incident took place around 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 8, at Paraco Gas, located on Corbin Avenue in Bay Shore, said the Suffolk County Police. The explosion took place around 9:20 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 1000 New Horizons Blvd. in Amityville, said Suffolk County Police. The explosion was followed by a fire, police said. Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives said Paul Vanancken, 49, was injured during the incident in West Islip around 9:53 a.m., Thursday, June 25. Man Found Dead After Explosion Of Propane Heater In Suffolk Detectives believe a malfunction in a propane heater is responsible for an explosion that left a 63-year-old Long Island man dead. The man, believed to be homeless, was found around 5:10 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, in a wooded area behind Middle Country Road in Coram, said the Suffolk County Police. The department's arson section and homicide squad detectives are investigating the incident, police said. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office.
