For the first time in 118 years, the third and final leg of the Triple Crown will be held at the Saratoga Race Course during construction of a new, “reimagined” Belmont Park on Long Island, Gov. 19: 'Rising Tide' Of NY Cases Sparking Concern, Hochul Says
Some alarm bells are sounding for New York Gov. Kathy Hochul as new COVID-19 sub-variants have been spreading around parts of the state, causing concern as the number of new infections continues to rise. New York regions entering Phase 3 of their novel coronavirus (COVID-19) economic recovery can now entertain larger gatherings as the state continues to daily monitor their metrics. With Western New York and the Capital Region on track to join the Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, Central New York, Mohawk Valley, and North Country in Phase 3 this week, Gov. 19: Long Island Reaches Another Benchmark For Reopening
Long Island took another step toward entering Phase 1 of reopening its economy, meeting the fifth of seven metrics required by the state amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. New York State requires regions to have a new hospitalization rate under 2 per 100,000 residents to begin phase 1 of the reopening plan, which Long Island was over until the weekend.
