Family Of Late Long Island Firefighter Sees Outpouring Of Support: 'Loss Of A True Pillar' Colleagues and loved ones are mourning the loss of a beloved firefighter from Long Island being remembered for his many contributions to the community. Davinder Singh, of Albertson, died Friday, Jan. 12, according to his obituary. An age and cause of death were not given. Singh spent more than a decade volunteering at the Albertson Fire Department, a GoFundMe said. Fire Destroys Long Island Home, Damages Four Others A home was destroyed and four others damaged during a raging fire that caused the evacuation of neighboring homes on Long Island. The fire started around 4:20 a.m., Monday, March 15, on Evelyn Avenue, in Westbury, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, officers responded to a residential fire on Evelyn Avenue.
