The early-morning crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, April 15, in Brentwood, near the intersection of Wicks and Bradley roads.

Suffolk County Police said a woman was crossing Wicks Road from east to west when she was struck by an SUV at around 5:10 a.m. The driver then fled the scene without offering her aid.

She was then struck by a second vehicle, which also fled.

The woman, identified as 41-year-old Alison Pfefferkorn, of Sag Harbor, was taken by ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

Hours after the collision, Suffolk County Police detectives arrested 59-year-old Luis Vasquez, of Brentwood, on suspicion of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death. Vasquez was the first of two vehicles to strike Pfefferkorn, police said.

On Wednesday, April 17, police announced that they had arrested a second driver involved in the crash, 28-year-old Jairo Carrillo-Perez. He allegedly struck Pfefferkorn as she laid in the road after being hit by the first car and then fled the scene, according to police.

Carrillo-Perez, of Brentwood, is charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip later Wednesday.

Detectives asked anyone with information in the case to contact the Suffolk County Police Department at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers.
