It happened just before 11 a.m.  Thursday, June 8 in Deer Park.

That's when a man in a vehicle approaching the intersection of Commack Road and Marcus Boulevard was shot by what appears to be a BB gun or gel pellets coming from a black Hyundai, according to Suffolk County Police.

The victim exited the vehicle to confront the individuals when a male driver stepped out of that vehicle, pointed a black handgun at the victim, and shot the passenger tires of the vehicle, causing the tires to become flat.

The victim fled the area and contacted police. He did not need medical attention.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Suffolk County PD First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS
