Trio Nabbed On Long Island With Weapons, Guns, After Wild Chase Involving Several Crashes

Three alleged gang members, one wanted for murder, were arrested by police who confiscated drugs and weapons during a wild takedown that involved several vehicle crashes.

The arrest took place on Thursday, Oct. 29 in Hauppauge.

That's when members of the Suffolk County Police Firearm Suppression Team, along with members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, located Brandon Hicks, 19, of Hauppauge, who had an active warrant from Nassau County for attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said Hicks was driving a 2012 Infinity G37 on a residential street when he noticed officers watching him, and fled around 10:20 a.m. 

The Infinity crashed into a Ford pickup truck at the intersection of Motor Parkway and the Long Island Expressway North Service Road. A tire from the Infinity struck a 2016 GMC Suburban, police said. 

Hicks and his two passengers Jahiem Hayes, 19, of Hauppauge, and Travis Guy, 18, of Selden, fled the scene but were immediately caught at 700 Motor Parkway. 

The occupants of the Ford and GMC refused medical treatment, police said.

Inside the vehicle, three loaded handguns were recovered in addition to approximately 30 grams of crack and 35 grams of fentanyl. 

 Police also recovered two loaded handguns, an assault rifle, shotgun, and approximately 35 grams of crack at a residence in Hauppauge.

Hicks was charged with:

  • three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, 
  • four counts of possession of a controlled substance, 
  • reckless driving,
  • attempted murder,
  • reckless endangerment, 
  • criminal possession of a weapon.

Hayes was charged with:

  • three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, 
  • four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, 
  • criminal possession of a controlled substance, 
  • two warrants.

Guy was charged with three counts of criminal [ossession of a weapon and four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Hicks, Hayes, and Guy were held overnight at the Third Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, October 30.
