It happened just before 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 in Woodmere.

While traveling eastbound on Peninsula Boulevard, a 2005 Mercury Sable was in a collision with a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan near the intersection of Lafayette Drive, Nassau County Police.

The collision caused the operator of the Mercury to lose control of his vehicle and strike a tree. 

As a result of the collision, the operator suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police Medic.

The operator of the Dodge Grand Caravan remained at the scene. 

There does not appear to be any criminality at this point and the investigation is ongoing, police said. 

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Peninsula Boulevard was closed during the accident investigation.
