A 31-year-old man was killed after he was hit by another vehicle as he exited his disabled pickup truck on Sunrise Highway.

Shawn Devlin, of Mastic Beach, was killed around 5:20 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Sayville, said the Suffolk County Police.

According to police, Devlin was driving a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck on the on-ramp to westbound Sunrise Highway between Broadway and Lincoln Avenue in Sayville when his vehicle experienced mechanical issues.

Devlin pulled his vehicle into the area between the entrance ramp and the express lanes and was struck by a 2017 Jeep when he exited the vehicle, police said.

He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Jeep, John Annibell, 58, of Holtsville, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
