Attempted Kidnapping: Man Grabs Woman On Long Island, Police Say

Police arrested a man on Long Island after he allegedly hid in a garbage can and tried to kidnap a woman outside of her place of work.

It happened in Rockville Centre on Wednesday, April 3, according to Nassau County Police.

At approximately 6 a.m. that day, 56-year-old Isaac Diaz Tollinchi was hiding in a garbage pail while his victim, a 48-year-old woman, walked towards her place of employment.

As she walked by, police said Tollinchi grabbed the woman and tried to forcibly walk her to his car.

The woman was able to break free. She ran away and contacted the authorities while Tollinchi, who is homeless, ran in an unknown direction.

Authorities found Tollinchi the next day near his victim’s home. He was arrested and charged with:

  • Attempted kidnapping;
  • Unlawful imprisonment.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at Hempstead’s First District Court on Friday, April 5.
