A potent, late autumn storm is bringing flooding and road closures to parts of the region. Flood watches or warnings are up for the entire Capital Region with rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches expected through Monday night, Dec. 18, according to the National Weather Service in Albany. Higher rainfall accumulations are expected on east and southeast-facing slopes of the eastern Catskills. Child Sex Abuse: Man From Region Nabbed Years After Victimizing 2 Kids, Police Say
A 35-year-old man from the Capital Region is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing two children. Warren County resident Joshua Tessier, of Glens Falls, was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 8. New York State Police announced the arrest Monday, Sept. 18. According to troopers, Tessier had inappropriate sexual contact with two children in Kingsbury in Washington County in 2020. Investigations were tipped off about the alleged abuse in April 2023. Tessier is charged with two counts of sexual abuse and one count of forcible touching. Projected Snowfall Totals Increase For Winter Storm Headed To Region
Projected snowfall totals have increased for a new winter storm headed to the region. The time frame for the system is Friday night, March 10 into Saturday, March 11, according to the National Weather Service. A widespread 4 inches of accumulation is now predicted for most inland areas south of the Capital Region, with close to 6 inches in some spots, where hazardous travel is expected. A 19-year-old man is behind bars months after allegedly kidnapping two young girls from their Capital Region home and sexually abusing one, New York State Police said. The man, identified by WNYT as Yusef Illeez, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 8, following a joint investigation that included State Police, Schenectady County Child Protective Services, and the FBI. Missing Vulnerable Teens From NYC May Be In Region, Police Say
Police have issued an alert for a pair of vulnerable teenage girls who are believed to be in the Capital Region. Jackeline Caraballo, age 15, and Le’Airra Ivery, age 14, ran away from a residential treatment facility in Brownsville, Brooklyn on Thursday, Sept. 29, the New York City Police Department said. They were last seen in Rensselaer County, in Troy, and are believed to be staying in the area, police said. Waitress In Region Steals Diner's Credit Card, Charges Over $1K, Police Say
A waitress in the Capital Region is facing charges for allegedly stealing a customer’s credit card and then going on a shopping spree. State police in Rensselaer County were called Thursday, Sept. 22, with reports that someone had made over $1,500 in unauthorized charges to the victim’s credit card. Investigators determined that the culprit was 26-year-old Kimberly Gibson, of Castleton-on-Hudson, who works as a waitress at the Schodack Diner, located on Highway 9 in Schodack. The victim had recently visited the diner and used the same credit card to pay for hear meal, police said. …
