A 62-year-old Northern Westchester woman faces charges after a dog bite led to officers discovering her pet was unlicensed and unvaccinated, police said. Two people are facing charges following separate animal cruelty investigations in the region, including one involving a dog that died. Albany resident Elisa Sumner, age 27, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 1, after police looked into the death of her two-year-old German Shepherd at her Spring Street home in August 2022. Albany Police determined that Sumner had failed to provide the animal with enough food and medical care. Police Investigating Abuse Of 'Severely Injured' Puppy Found In Region
A 10-to-14-week-old puppy is recovering after police in the Capital District found her suffering from severe abuse, authorities said. Schenectady Police were called Tuesday, Aug. 9, and found the animal severely injured and unable to stand on her own. Animal Control officers removed the dog and brought her to the emergency vet, where she received critical, lifesaving treatment, police said. Authorities are investigating after several deceased dogs were found near a Capital District biking trail. A passerby found the three dogs at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, near the Uncle Sam Bike Path just north of Ingalls Avenue, a Troy Police spokesperson confirmed to Daily Voice. A 431-pound bear was euthanized after entering a home in Connecticut, confronting the homeowner and then ransacking the kitchen and dining room. Firefighters along with the help of Good Samaritans were able to save almost 100 puppies when a fire broke in a warehouse attached to a local pet store in Danbury. Mallard, 10 Ducklings Rescued From Area Shopping Center
Oh, quack. A mallard duck and her 10 little ducklings almost got squished Wednesday when they took refuge under a car in the parking lot of a local shopping center. But no worries, the Ramapo Police Department, along with the city's animal control officer, and a couple Good Samaritans quickly came to the rescue and were able, with quite a bit of effort, to rescue all the ducks.
