William Bugbee, 55, who grew up in Fishkill and worked as a mechanic in Poughkeepsie before moving to the North Country, was trapped inside the mobile home when the fire started at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, state police said.
Also killed were Bugbee's daughters -- 6-year-old Allazza Bugbee and 5-year-old Livia Bugbee -- and his stepdaughter, 14-year-old Shaylee Baxter.
Bugbee's wife, Carrie, 36, was able to escape from the house and survived, police said. She was transported to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital for evaluation.
The St. Lawrence County coroner responded and authorized removal of the bodies to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where autopsies are being conducted.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
William Bugbee is survived by three additional daughters, Samantha Bugbee of Colorado, Lindsey Bugbee of Weedsport, and Abigail Bugbee of Syracuse; 2 grandchildren, Gabe and Emma; his brother, Robert Bugbee and his companion, Lisa M. Tokarz of East Greenbush; two aunts and a niece.
