WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Jack Fedigan has been an institution in Wappingers Falls for 50 years. Fedigan was honored by the Exchange Club of Southern Dutchess for his dedicated service to helping others with its Meritorious Service Award on Tuesday. DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - Volunteers in Dutchess County are looking for the public’s assistance as they seek a cat that has gone missing in Beacon. On Monday night, Fuji, a black and white cat with white paws and nose was reported missing by his family. He was last seen on June 9 in Beacon near Dominick Lane and Branette Lane. According to his owners, Fuji wandered off on Friday and they are worried about him during the current heat wave. He was last seen approximately a mile from his home. Bear Spotted Near Playground, Park In East Fishkill
There's another bear making the rounds in Dutchess. The East Fishkill Police Department said it received a report Monday afternoon of the bear sighted on a neighbors's property in the area of Quail Run Road in Wiccopee, a hamlet in East Fishkill. After a police officer had been sent to patrol the area since it's near a park and playground, it appeared the bear had moved on, police said. Pawling's James Earl Jones Receives Lifetime Achievement Tony Award
James Earl Jones, a Pawling resident, was honored Sunday for his life's work on the Great White Way. The actor received a lifetime achievement award at the Tony Awards. Jones has appeared in 20 Broadway plays and won two Tonys for his performances in the "The Great White Hope" and "Fences." During his speech, Jones thanked his father and talked about his wife, Cecilia Hart, who died last October. Offstage, he is best known for voicing Darth Vader in the "Star Wars" movies.

Community Rallies Behind Those Affected By Wappingers Falls Fire
WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- As Wappingers Falls downtown businesses and residents are still reeling from Saturday's devasting fire that left several businesses and homes destroyed, the community is stepping forward to help. Two groups who are currently collecting money and working to help those affected, include the Wappingers Falls Business & Professional Association who has started a GoFundMe page and Graceland Tattoo who will hold a fundraiser on Sunday. Missing Cat Found Near Putnam/Dutchess Border
Volunteers in Putnam County are hoping for the community’s assistance as they attempt to reunite a lost cat with its family. On Wednesday, a black and white cat was found in Holmes, near the Putnam-Dutchess county line, which has since been taken to the Putnam Humane Society for evaluation and safekeeping. The black cat has white whiskers and a large white patch on his chest. Law enforcement agencies are seeking the community’s assistance in locating a missing Dutchess County teenager that has been missing since March. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Poughkeepsie Town Police Department have issued a missing person report for 15-year-old Wanda Bautista, who was reported missing on March 11. Dutchess County respected its elders on Tuesday afternoon.The Office of the Aging celebrated its 19th annual Celebration of Aging, honoring its Senior Citizens Of The Year in Wappingers Falls.
