Litter Of Days-Old Kittens Found Abandoned In Milk Crate In Westchester
A litter of kittens has a new surrogate mom after being found abandoned in a milk carton crate in Westchester. The kittens, all only a few days old, were discovered in a milk crate by Briarcliff Manor-based SPCA Westchester on Monday evening, May 6. Luckily, the organization was able to keep the kittens alive and worked to bottle-feed them every few hours after their rescue to keep them healthy. Authorities are searching for whoever abandoned five puppies inside a closed, air-tight container found inside a dumpster at a rest stop along a Northern Westchester highway. A veterinarian in the region is accused of physically abusing numerous animals that were entrusted in his care. Javier Diaz, age 46, was arrested Thursday, April 28, following an investigation by SPCA Westchester and the Westchester County DA’s office. Cash is a seven pound Chihuahua mix who likes other small dogs and is good with kids 10 and up, the SPCA said. Cash is available for permanent foster due to a heart condition known as degenerative valve disease. This condition requires daily medication and a heart-healthy diet.
