Hearst Lays Off Around 200 Employees From Magazine Division, With Most Jobs In NY
Hearst Magazines has just fired around 200 employees, most of whom were assigned to the company's midtown Manhattan headquarters, according to multiple reports.
Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Men's Health, Popular Mechanics, Town & Country, and Harper's Bazaar are among the titles the division of Hearts Communications publishes.
Affected employees were notified in a private meeting days before Thanksgiving, according to New York Magazine.
Some of the Hearst publications :were already run by a skeleton crew" after years of downsizing, the report in New York said.

A cooking commercial that will be produced in New York City needs to fill the roles of a husband, wife, and teenager.
The exact shooting dates will depend on the role, but the casting call says to keep Wednesday, May 29, and Thursday, May 30, open.
Men and women interested in playing the couple should be between ages 30 and 50, and the teen between 18 and 25.

Workers in downstate New York are all getting a holiday bonus this year, as minimum wage rates get bumped for the third straight year.
As of Friday, Dec. 31, minimum wage workers in Westchester, Suffolk, and Nassau counties will see a bump in their paychecks as their hourly wages will rise to a minimum of $15, putting them on par with employees at large firms in New York City, which has been at that benchmark for three years.
Minimum wage employees in those counties had previously been getting $14 an hour.

Stop & Shop To Hold Job Fairs, Seeking To Fill More Than 1,000 Positions In Region
Popular grocery chain Stop & Shop is holding a series of job fairs to fill more than 1,000 part-time positions in the area.
Stop & Shop, which employs nearly 60,000 associates and operates more than 400 stores throughout New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Jersey, hopes to fill positions in the bakery, deli, grocery, produce, seafood and meat departments. The chain is also looking to add new members to its night crew as well as cashiers, porters and baggers.
