IDs Released Of 4 Killed, Including Off-Duty Nypd Cop, 9 Injured In Alleged DWI Crash At Store
The identities have been released of four people killed, including a police officer, and nine injured after an allegedly drunk driver crashed an SUV into a shop at a New York strip mall.
The incident happened on Long Island around 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, in the hamlet of Deer Park.
According to Suffolk County Police, the driver, Steven Schwally, age 64, of Dix Hills, was driving a 2020 Chevy Traverse southbound at a high rate of speed through the parking lot in front of 421 Commack Road.

An anesthesiologist faces charges after allegedly giving anesthesia to a victim without her knowledge and sexually assaulting her, police announced.
Putnam County resident Paul Giacopelli of Southeast, age 59, was interviewed and arrested on Saturday, Dec. 30 on sexual abuse charges, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
According to authorities, on Friday, Dec. 29, the Sheriff's Office was told that a female victim known to Giacopelli had been given anesthesia without her knowledge and was then sexually assaulted.

Rite Aid Announces 20 NY Stores Slated For Closure After Declaring Bankruptcy
Rite Aid has announced specific store closures just days after the struggling pharmacy chain filed for bankruptcy.
Of the 154 closures nationwide announced on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 20 are in New York, 14 of which are on Long Island.
Rite Aid currently has 2,100 stores and about 45,000 employees.

Charles Entenmann, Who Turned NY Bakery Into National Brand, Dies
Charles Entenmann, who helped turn his family's Long Island bakery into a national brand, has died at the age of 92.
Entenmann died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 24, according to his obituary.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Nalewajk, his son, Charles W. Entenmann, and his seven grandchildren, his obituary reads.
Entenmann, along with his two brothers and his mother, worked together to expand their family bakery, located in Bay Shore.

NY Man Wins $1M Powerball Prize
A man has claimed a $1,000,000 New York Lottery prize.
Long Island resident Patrick Cherry, of Bay Shore, won the Powerball prize after matching the first five numbers drawn on Wednesday, Nov. 3, the New York Lottery announced on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
The winning ticket was purchased at Stop & Shop, located at 400 Union Boulevard in West Islip.
Cherry received his prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings.
