Fatal Crash: 36-Year-Old Woman ID'd After Being Hit By Compact SUV On I-87 This story has been updated. A woman hit was killed in a crash on the New York State Thruway in the region. The crash occurred in Orange County around 1 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27 on I-87 in Woodbury killing Otsego County resident Erika J. Gargan, age 36, of Schuyler Lake. According to Tara McCormick of the New York State Police, troopers responded to a serious injury crash between a 2021 Honda CRV and a pedestrian on I-87 southbound, between exit 15a (Sloatsburg) and exit 16 (Harriman). Driver Killed In Head-On Capital Region Crash That Injured Second Motorist A head-on crash on a busy roadway in the region left one man dead and another motorist injured during the morning commute. The Albany County wreck happened at around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Colonie, on State Route 9 near Old Loudon Road. Colonie Police said a Subaru was heading northbound on State Route 9 when the driver crossed over the median and struck a southbound Volkswagen head on. Snowplowing Truck Hits, Kills Woman In Capital Region Parking Lot A woman has died after being struck by a pickup truck outside an apartment complex in the region. The Greene County incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Coxsackie at the Peppertree Apartments. According to sheriff’s officials, a 66-year-old New Baltimore man was using a pickup truck to plow snow in the building’s parking lot when he struck a woman while backing up. The 70-year-old Coxsackie woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities had not released her identity as of Thursday, Jan. 18. The incident is under investigation.
