Weeklong Lane Reduction Planned For Stretch Of Capital Region Highway
A major highway in the region will go down to just a single lane for a week, spelling potential delays for commuters. In Columbia County, one southbound lane of the Taconic State Parkway will close in the town of Taghkanic between County Route 10 and Exit 80 beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, April 29. Despite social media buzz and some help from a couple of drone operators, there’s still no sign of a family of black bear cubs days after their mama was struck and killed on a highway in the region. The Columbia County incident happened Friday evening, April 19, on the Taconic State Parkway near Exit 99 in the hamlet of Spencertown. Five people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash that caused the closure of a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway. It happened in Dutchess County on Friday, Nov. 24 on the northbound side in La Grange.
