Blame Game: Suspect In Fatal Area Stabbing Had Been Released Despite Wanted Status For Assault A 20-year-old undocumented immigrant was arrested in connection with a deadly stabbing in the region that occurred after he was released from custody despite being wanted for another broad-daylight stabbing. Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called at around 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, for a stabbing in Troy near River and Duow streets, mere yards from KIPP Troy Prep Elementary School. When officers arrived, they found 28-year-old Jario Hernandez-Sanchez unconscious, having suffered multiple stab wounds, according to Troy Police. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Kathy Hochul confirmed her office was investigating allegations that he mishandled internal personnel complaints. State Police Superintendent Kevin Bruen, age 59, of Glens Falls in Warren County, announced his resignation Friday, Oct. 7, the agency said in a statement.  His official last day will be Wednesday, Oct. 19.
