Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Saratoga County With Isolated Tornadoes Possible
With a round of storms moving from west to east in interior portions of the region, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of the area. The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4. A radar image of the region above from 2:45 p.m. Friday shows the storms. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for most of the region as a potent system develops that will bring drenching downpours, and damaging wind gusts between 60 and 70 miles per hour with 1-inch hail and an isolated tornado. The watch was issued just before 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, and is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday. Alert Issued For 20-Year-Old Who's Gone Missing In Region
A 20-year-old woman has gone missing in the region and authorities are asking for the public's help in locating her. Emma Gagnon is believed to be operating a Nissan Pathfinder with the Connecticut registration 1ASWK7, Connecticut State Police out of the Litchfield barracks said in issuing a Silver Alert early Monday morning, July 18. She's described as being 5-foot-2, 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and red-and-blue pajama pants. NY Broadcasting Pioneer William O’Shaughnessy Dies
William O’Shaughnessy, a broadcasting pioneer in New York, died at his home in Connecticut on Saturday, May 28. He was 84. O'Shaughnessy was owner and president of Whitney Radio, which owns and operates WVOX in Westchester County. A 1999 New York Times profile described O'Shaughnessy as "a flamboyant figure, a tall man with bright silver hair and a penchant for London-made suits and Corvette convertibles."
