Standout NY College Football Player ID'd As Man Struck, Killed By Train
Authorities have identified the man who was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train.
The incident happened at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, west of the Wyandanch station, near the intersection of Long Island Avenue and Straight Path.
On Thursday, May 25, the victim was identified as 30-year-old Demetrius Houanche, of Deer Park, an MTA spokesperson told Daily Voice.

An NYPD Officer from Long Island shot in the head during a robbery in Brooklyn while he was attempting to purchase an SUV has died from his injuries in a case in which the suspect was apprehended in the Hudson Valley.
Adeed Fayaz, age 26, of Deer Park in Suffolk County died Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Brookdale Hospital, according to the NYPD.

NYPD Officer Adeed Fayaz, age 26, of Deer Park, in Suffolk County, is in "grave condition," and "fighting for his life," at Brookdale Hospital, said Keechant Sewell, NYC Police Commissioner.

Police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on an off-duty NYPD officer, critically wounding him, as he attempted to purchase a vehicle.
The officer, who has not been named, went to purchase the vehicle that was posted in a Facebook Marketplace ad around 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4 in the area of 472 Ruby St., said New York City Police.
When the officer and his brother-in-law arrived, a man almost immediately pulled out a gun and demanded the money, said the NYPD.

A Long Island man claimed a $1 million lottery prize.
Carlos Moran Jr., of Deer Park, won his prize after matching the first five numbers selected in the Monday, June 13, Powerball drawing, the New York Lottery said.
Moran received his prize as a single, lump-sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings, NY Lottery said.
The winning numbers for the drawing were: 02 27 42 44 51 Powerball 25, the lottery said.

Long Island resident Rory Fabian, of Saint James in Suffolk County, has claimed his $5,000,000 top prize on the New York Lottery’s $5,000,000 Riches scratch-off game.
