Bedford Readies Town Landmarks For July 4 BEDFORD, N.Y. – The Town of Bedford has decorated its national landmarks with all matter of American flags in preparation for the Fourth of July. It has become an Independence Day tradition in Bedford to decorate government buildings and homes in red, white and blue.  On June 14, 1777, the original 13-star version of the flag was adopted, and on July 4, 1960, the current 50-star version was finalized.

She was born in Brooklyn on Oct. 25, 1939, to Francis and Dorothy Barber. She was a payroll manager for PAR Pharmaceutical in Chestnut Ridge, retiring in 2005.
