Brewster's Spotlight Arts Presents 'Winter Wonderland Cabaret' BREWSTER, N.Y. -- Spotlight Arts is seeking students who would like to perform in “Winter Wonderland Cabaret!” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Studio Around the Corner in Brewster.Spotlight Arts encourages students to sign up for duets instead of solos so more students can be involved. State Issues Citation To Tilcon's Haverstraw Quarry HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- State environmental regulators have issued a citation against Haverstraw Quarry operator Tilcon New York, according to a report on lohud.com. The state Department of Environmental Conservation issued the citation Oct. 27 after inspectors responded to complaints of noise, dust and mud discharge into the Hudson River, the story said. Westchester Budget Cuts Worry Legal Services Of Hudson Valley WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Legal Services of the Hudson Valley is concerned that the proposed 2016 Westchester County budget will greatly limit its ability to serve its low-income clients.County Executive Rob Astorino introduced a proposed $1.8 billion budget for the 2016 fiscal year Nov. 13 that doesn't increase taxes for the sixth straight year but does cut LSHV funding by $180,000. Police Dish Out 58 Tickets In I-684 Detail SOMERS, N.Y. -- New York State Police at Somers issued 58 tickets during a speed enforcement initiative focusing on Interstate 684 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Most of the tickets were for speeding. Dutchess County Agency, Lions Clubs Collect Eyeglasses DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Dutchess County Division of Solid Waste Management, working with the Lions Clubs International, recently celebrated America Recycles Day by collecting 264 pairs of eyeglasses, 57 pairs of sunglasses and six hearing aids that were locally donated, improving the sight and hearing of many local residents. Police Probe Homicide Of Newborn Boy In Livingston LIVINGSTON, N.Y. -- New York State Police are seeking information about a dead baby whose body was found Friday in a dumpster in Livingston. A caller informed state police about 3:40 a.m. Friday that he suspected the presence of a baby outside the XtraMart at Bells Pond in Livingston. Troopers went to the business about 3:50 a.m. but failed to find a child, police said. State police later received further information that led to the discovery of a newborn male in a garbage bag in a dumpster.
