Fallen Trees Force Major Route 9 Closure In Westchester
Wind damaged trees falling across Route 9 has necessitated a major north-south road closing late Monday afternoon, Feb. 25. As of just before 4:30 p.m., Route 9 is closed from the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery’s main entrance to the Phelps Memorial Hospital entrance. The closing is for an estimated four hours to enable tree crews and local DPW workers to inspect additional trees and to clear the current damage, Briarcliff Manor Village Manager Philip E. Traffic Alert: I-84 Crash Causes Stop-Go Delays, Route 32 Reopens After Downed Pole
This story has been updated. Motorists had to endure two major slowdowns on I-84 and Route 32 in Orange County. The rollover crash occurred around 9:32 a.m. Monday on I-84 eastbound near Ext 8B in Newburgh. State police traffic is getting by, but traffic is backed-up and slowdowns are occurring. Route 32 was closed in Cornwall from Route 107/Quaker Avenue. and Route 65/Angola Road, due to a downed utility pole and wires from late in the morning until just before 6 p.m.

I-287 Fully Reopens After Gasoline Tanker Fire
This story has been updated. I-287 is now fully reopened after a fire broke out on a gasoline tanker in White Plains. All lanes both ways were initially closed between Exit 9A (I-684) and Exit 9 (Hutchinson River Parkway) after the incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, leading to the shutdown of the highway in both directions. Daytime Lane Closures Scheduled On I-87 Near Tappan Zee Bridge For Days
There will be daytime lane closures for several days on the Rockland-bound New York State Thruway next week as contracting crews continue work in the area. Tappan Zee Constructors announced that they will continue roadway improvements near the new Tappan Zee Bridge, which will require single-lane closures on I-87/I-287. Beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, there will be one left northbound lane closed from exit 8 to exit 10. Route 59 Reopens After Truck Hits Overpass
This story has been updated. A stretch of Route 59 has reopened after it was shut down in both directions following a tractor-trailer hit an overpass in Rockland County. The incident occurred around noon on Wednesday, Feb. 6 between Route 17 and 4th Street in Hillburn. No injuries were reported. Route 9 Closure After Crash Expected To Last Through Late Afternoon
A stretch of Route 9 is closed after an overnight crash in which a vehicle damaged a utility pole on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The closure is near the Irvington-Dobbs Ferry border between Langdon Avene and Ardsley Avenue West. Motorists should follow the posted detours and expect delays. Starting Date Set For Harriman Toll Plaza Demolition
Demolition of the Harriman toll plaza on the New York State Thruway has a starting date, following the Thruway Authority’s transition to cashless tolls in the Hudson Valley. Beginning on Monday, Jan. 14, a Westchester contracting company will begin demolition in Harriman, as the state continues a $13.9 million plan to convert plazas in the region to cashless, all-electronic tolls. Box Truck Crash Backs Up Traffic On New TZB
A crash that slowed traffic for about an hour on the new Tappan Zee Bridge has been cleared, but there are still residual back-ups. The crash of a box truck took place around 1 p.m. Friday on the Westchester-bound side near Exit 13 in Tarrytown, said the New York State Police. Currently, the bus lane and shoulder southbound are closed for repairs to the side of the bridge where the truck hit, state police said. Troopers have cleared the scene and traffic should be back up to speed soon, they added. No serious injuries were reported.
