Area Man Charged With DWI After Refusing Chemical Test A 42-year-old man was arrested on DWI charges following a traffic stop. Ulster County resident William Babcock, of Saugerties, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 27, after being stopped by officers at the Quickchek on Route 9W, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said. After being stopped, Babcock allegedly refused to submit to a chemical test, Sinagra said. He was charged with DWI and refusal to take a breath test. During his arraignment at the Town of Saugerties Justice Court, his driver's license was revoked. Babcock was released on his own recognizance.

Driver Asleep At The Wheel Of BMW In Rockland Was Intoxicated, Police Say A 24-year-old man who was found asleep behind the wheel of a BMW in Pearl River was allegedly driving while intoxicated, police said. An officer from the Orangetown Police Department found McLean, Virginia, resident Jason Bell asleep in the driver’s seat of a parked black BMW on West Central Avenue at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. The officer noted that the car was running with its lights on and the keys in the ignition.
