Ramapo Police Charge 2 With DWI During Holiday Weekend Patrol

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- With the onset of the holiday weekend, Ramapo police made a pair of DWI arrests Saturday evening.

The first was the result of a rollover accident on East Eckerson Road in Hillcrest, police report.

The suspect, a 19-year-old man from Spring Valley, was charged with driving while intoxicated and has been ordered to return to Ramapo Justice Court later this month, according to officials.

The second arrest came about when an officer assigned to DWI patrol observed a vehicle swerving as it was being driven in the Monsey area, police report.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, was released on bail and was also ordered to return to Ramapo Justice Court, according to officials.

Ramapo police scheduled additional DWI patrols throughout the remainder of the Fourth of July weekend, police report.

Officers investigated three motor vehicle accidents on Saturday.

The accidents occurred in Hillcrest, Airmont and Pomona, according to officials.

Ramapo police responded to 135 calls for service on Saturday, including 19 medical emergencies, 16 alarm activations and four fire calls.

A total of three arrests were made, including two DWI charges and one charge of unlawful possession of marijuana.
