The 30-year-old driver from Haverstraw couldn’t get out of his 2000 Lexus ES300 due to the car sliding backwards each time he tried to exit. His vehicle ended up in a spot difficult to see from the roadway and police say he is lucky he was not injured and able to phone for help.

The Lexus was traveling north around 5:40 a.m. Jan. 23 on Route 59 past Torne Valley Road when it encountered a curve. At that point the vehicle slid across the oncoming lane of traffic and down an embankment.
