Disorderly Conduct Arrest Tops Thursday's Ramapo Police News

RAMAPO, N. Y. -- Ramapo police arrested a 24-year-old New Hempstead man for disorderly conduct after police were called at about 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, to break up a fight between several people on Greenridge Way in the New Hempstead area of Ramapo.

Even after police ordered the group to separate, the man continued to cause a disturbance, police said. He is due in court next month in Ramapo.

Also on Feb. 11, police investigated two fraudulent check cases. In one case $17,000 was fraudulently withdrawn from a customer’s account, police said. In another, a person tried to cash a check from a local business, but the check was forged, police said. 

Police made two arrests in the first case and one arrest for the second. Charges include forgery, grand larceny, and possession of a forged instrument. 

Also on Thursday, police handled six property damage accidents: Route 59 in Monsey, Route 59 in Airmont, E. Eckerson Road in Hillcrest, New Hempstead Road in New Hempstead, Route 202 in NE Ramapo, and Prosperity Drive in Wesley Hills.

  • 15 medical emergencies;
  • 20 alarm activations;
