SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Verna Frances Jarkiewicz, of Suffern, died on Sunday, Feb. 14. She was 93.
Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Jarkiewicz was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, where she served as a Eucharistic minister.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Wielkoszewski and her husband Arthur, Diane Jarkiewicz-Thompson and her husband Curt, and Susan Jarkiewicz; grandchildren Anna and her husband Antonio, Caitlin, and Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jarkiewicz was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; daughter Jane; parents Martin and Alexandra (Piotrowski) Kwolek; and all eight siblings.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, at Scarr Funeral Home, 160 Orange Ave. (Route 202), in Suffern. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, at Sacred Heart Church, 129 Lafayette Ave., in Suffern. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, in Nanuet.
