One hospital in the Hudson Valley is at the top of its class for keeping patients safe, according to a new report.
Westchester County's White Plains Hospital, located at 41 East Post Rd, has been assigned an "A" grade for patient safety in a new Fall 2022 report by the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization that advocates for safety in hospitals.

A Westchester man has been found guilty after authorities say he chased down and then murdered a man near a housing complex.
Brandon Williams, age 28, was charged for the fatal shooting of Deron Strange, age 34, in White Plains that happened shortly before midnight on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in a parking lot behind the apartment complex on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office said.

A man has been sentenced to prison for slashing a man's neck outside a mall in the region.
Edwin Hernandez, age 44, of the Bronx was sentenced on Friday, Aug. 5 to seven years in state prison and five years post-release supervision for the 2019 event outside the White Plains Galleria Mall, according to Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah.

Investigation Underway After Fatal Hudson Valley Shooting
Police are investigating after a Westchester County resident was found dead on New Year's Eve.
Shawn Jefferson, age 49, of White Plains, was fatally shot just before midnight on New Year's Eve on North Kensico Avenue, said Capt. Jim Spencer, of the White Plains Police.
According to Spencer, officers found Jefferson after responding to reports of shots fired.
Jefferson, who lives across the street from where he was found, died at White Plains Hospital around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, police said.

A convicted felon reportedly admitted that he stabbed a former coworker in a Westchester Stop & Shop four years ago.
Joseph Joy, an ex-employee at Stop & Shop in North White Plains, has admitted to the stabbing in December 2016.
According to police, shortly after 5 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2016, Joy, a White Plains resident, entered the Stop & Shop location on North Broadway and attacked the employee with a knife, prompting several emergency 911 calls from her co-workers.
