Selvin Donis of 87 Franklin St., Danbury, was arrested about 2 a.m. during a Sept. 25 traffic stop, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Once a sheriff’s deputy noticed the white powder around Donis’ nose, the 23-year-old was searched, according to police, who said Donis was found in possession of “a quantity of cocaine.”
Donis was arrested at the scene and now faces a misdemeanor count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to police. According to the state's penal code, the charge is reserved for someone found in possession of a "residual" amount of a controlled substance.
If convicted of the crime, Donis faces up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
